With Lazio hoping to finish with a UEFA Champions League spot at the end of the
Serie A season, Marco Baroni and his troops will now prepare to take on Genoa in their next league outing at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium next Monday.
As it stands, Lazio occupy sixth position on the table, three points adrift from 4
th placed Juventus after 32 matches played.
Lazio will now head into their upcoming league assignment on the back of a 1-1 draw with Roma at Stadio Olimpico this past Sunday.
Speaking on the game, Baroni expressed that his side gave it their all and that they were unlucky not to get the victory on home soil.
“Roma put some pressure on, but didn’t create very much really,” Baroni said.
“It’s a pity, my team gave its all and created many scoring opportunities, but perhaps we lacked a little bit of luck to get the victory we deserved. We will take the point anyway, knowing the team tried everything. It’s a pity.”
Genoa are likewise hoping to get back to winning ways next week after jotting down a 0-0 stalemate alongside Verona last time out.
Sitting in 12
th place on the log, Genoa mentor Patrick Viera has been linked with the Roma job in the last couple of weeks. However, the Arsenal legend recently expressed that he is fully focused on doing well for Genoa this season.
“The future is always a very difficult thing in football. Because we all know that a coach’s life is measured in those 95 minutes” Vieira said.
“The most important thing is to stay focused on our goal, and our goal is to remain in Serie A
