The 2023 Italian Grand Prix is set to take place at the Monza Circuit in a city and comune on the River Lambro, Monza on 3 September.
 
What to know about the Italian Grand Prix
 
Established in 1921, it is the fifth oldest national Grand Prix after the French Grand Prix, the United States Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix and the Russian Grand Prix.
 
In 2013  the Italian Grand Prix became the most held Grand Prix and the race is due to take place at the Monza Circuit until at least 2025.
 
Most recent race 
 
The Dutch MotoGP which was the 13th round of the 2023 Formula One World Championship season took place on August 27.
 
The race was won by Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing-Honda RBPT and he was followed by Fernando Alonso of Aston Martin, and Alpine driver Pierre Gasly respectively. 
 
Standings
 
Verstappen is still placed at the top of the World Drivers' Championship standings followed by his teammate Sergio Perez, Alonso and Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton respectively.
 
Looking at the World Constructors' Championship standings, Red Bull Racing-Honda RBPT are placed at the top - followed by Mercedes and Aston Martin Aramco-Mercedes respectively.
 
Favourites 
 
The 2022 Italian Grand Prix champion Verstappen is a clear favourite to win this year's race as he is in electrifying form at the moment. 
 
On the other hand, the accomplished Hamilton, who has won the Italian Grand Prix title a joint record five times, will be keen to win the race for the sixth time.
 
While the duo of Perez and Alonso will also be looking to win this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

"I'm very satisfied with the team's work, we have to keep working and improving the car," Gasly, who is placed 10th on the drivers' standings, said after the 2023 Dutch GP.
 
"After Spa, where we made top three in the sprint race, there were already positives, it's taking place with the team, we're learning to work together.
 
"It's going in the right direction and we confirm it with this new podium, in the Grand Prix this time, It is extremely pleasing."
