2023/24 Italian Serie A
Matchday 3
Inter Milan v ACF Fiorentina
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza
Milan, Italy
Sunday, 3 September 2023
Kick-off is at 18h30
Inter Milan will square off with ACF Fiorentina in a
Serie A match at the iconic Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on 3 September.
Current Form
Inter extended their unbeaten run to three games in the league when they defeated AC Monza 2-0 at home on August 19 and they will be away to Cagliari on August 28.
The Big Grass Snake are enjoying a four-match unbeaten run at home in this competition having recorded four consecutive victories at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
Meanwhile, Fiorentina stretched their unbeaten run to six games in Serie A when they drew 2-2 with US Lecce at home on August 27.
Viola are also undefeated in their last three matches on the road in the league having registered two successive wins and one draw as the away side.
Team News
Inter have no suspension worries but Francesco Acerbi is currently nursing a muscle injury which makes him an injury doubt.
Gaetano Castrovilli, Antonin Barak, Jonathan Ikoné and Niccolò Pierozzi are all on Fiorentina's injury list, but the club has no suspension concerns.
Quotes
“Despite having a few days to prepare for the game, we had a strong start and we had great quality in the first half,” Fiorentina manager Vincenzo Italiano said after his side's draw against Lecce.
“We had many chances to score the third goal, but these games at the beginning of the season can be tricky. We lost possession in the middle of the park twice and we conceded two goals.
“We need to improve in terms of focus, we concede every time we face a shot on target. It’s a defect that we have and we must work on it otherwise games become complicated."
Head-to-Head
Fiorentina claimed a 1-0 win over Inter in their last meeting in Serie A which was on 1 April 2023 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
The win ended Viola's 11-match winless run against the Big Grass Snake in the Italian top flight.
Inter recorded six wins and five draws before losing to Fiorentina in their most recent meeting.
