2026 World Cup qualifiers
CAF Group H
Matchday 6
Tunisia v Malawi
Hammadi Agrebi Stadium

Monday, 24 March 2025
Kick-off is at 23:00
Tunisia will look to extend their unbeaten streak in the
World Cup qualifiers when they go up against Malawi at the Hammadi Agrebi Stadium on Monday evening.
The North African nations are leading the Group H standings and are two points ahead of second-placed Namibia at the halfway mark. The Eagles of Carthage will be seeking to claim their fifth win in six games.
Sami Trabelsi has returned to the Tunisian national team as the head coach, marking his return to the role 12 years after his first tenure. He recently celebrated a win against Liberia in the qualifiers on Matchday 5.
"My players put in a tremendous effort, so I have to commend them. They performed admirably under challenging circumstances,” said Trabelsi.
Tunisia successfully maintained their fifth consecutive clean sheet in the qualifiers. Their solid defensive performance was crucial in containing Liberia, and Trabelsi also mentioned that the match was far from straightforward.
"We achieved a valuable victory despite the difficulty of the match. We had some problems in possessing the ball but we take the win. That is very important."
On the other hand, Malawi are seeking redemption when they go up against a very strong Tunisia side and will be avoiding a third straight defeat in the qualifiers on Monday evening.
Despite having won two of their first matches in the campaign, the Flames have faced a slump and will target a positive result to remain in contention for qualification.
Head coach Kalitso Pasuwa is optimistic that his players will pull off a win against the Eagles.
“Now, we are meeting Tunisia, a team that at times struggles, and we have been telling our boys to just go and play the game. We know where we made mistakes, and we have worked on them so that we can try to give something in the game,” he said.
“The tactical approach is that we need to attack, and we need to be very solid in how we defend. Tunisia is good on the counter. They have speed, and yes, we need to manage numbers.”
