2024-25 NBA Regular Season
Boston Celtics v Phoenix Suns
TD Garden
Boston, Massachusetts
Saturday 5 April
Tip-off at 01:30
The Boston Celtics will be going up against the Phoenix Suns in the NBA at the TD Garden on Saturday morning, 5 April.
The Celtics will be looking to keep up their nine-match winning streak, as they will be locking horns with the Miami Heat prior to this encounter.
With the Celtics making a serious charge towards what could be back-to-back NBA championships with the playoffs fast approaching, veteran guard Derrick White engraved his name into their history books.
“Honestly, just looking back at my career, I never thought I’d be in this position. So I’m just thankful for the coaching staff, thankful for the guys on this team and I know I wouldn’t be able to do it without them,” says White.
There’s been growing speculation over Jayson Tatum’s future, especially after the team’s trip to Memphis where they triumphed over the Grizzlies 117-103.
Tatum explained that Memphis was where the love of the game started for him and how the place reminds him of “family”.
“I got a lot of family, a lot of friends here,” he said. “It’s only like a three and a half hour drive. So, I just built a lot of relationships, you know, over the last 15 years or so. I got a lot of love for the city of Memphis.”
With the Celtics facing financial challenges, this could have implications for the forward’s future with the team. With one of the most expensive rosters in the NBA, the team might have to make some sacrifices to keep things afloat.
Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been dealt with a blow ahead of this clash with Kevin Durant’s left ankle injury set to rule him out for at least a week.
Durant scored 11 points before his evening came to a premature end when he rolled his ankle on Jabari Smith Jr.’s foot while driving to the basket with 6:57 left in the third quarter in the team’s loss to the Houston Rockets.
This marks the third time that the 36-year-old has sprained his ankle in his two seasons with the Suns.
