2024-25 Spanish La Liga
Matchday 29
Real Madrid v Leganes

Estadio Santiago Bernabeu
Madrid, Spain
Saturday, 29 March 2025
Kick-off is at 22h00

Real Madrid will be aiming to keep the pressure on arch-rivals Barcelona when they welcome relegation-threatened Leganes to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, March 29 in the late kick-off.

Los Blancos (2nd) have managed to stay in touch with the Blaugrana at the La Liga summit as both teams tied on 60 points, although Barca do have a game in hand on them.

Carlo Ancelotti's side have won three of their last five matches and a 2-1 triumph over Villarreal on March 15 was their second victory on the spin.

Atletico Madrid are also in the mix, but back-to-back losses before the international break dented their title aspirations and they trail the top two by four points in third place.

Los Pepineros find themselves in a relegation scrap after picking up just two wins from their last 10 outings, with five of those ending in defeat.

A 3-2 reverse to Real Betis on March 16 left Borja Jimenez's side in 18th position, level with Alaves (17th) on 27 points and just one adrift of Valencia (16th) and Espanyol (15th).

Ancelotti expressed his dissatisfaction that Real had less than 72 hours' rest before their clash with the Yellow Submarine and has threatened a boycott if it happens again.

"The explanation is that this team has something special, character, commitment, they can't always do it, sometimes I even get angry with them," he said.

"We must thank these players for their enormous effort since January 3. Even more so today. It's the last time we're going to play before 72 hours.

"We are never going to do it again. We have asked La Liga twice to change the schedule and nothing has happened. This is the last time we played a game without 72 hours of rest. We won't play if it happens again."

Jimenez lamented his team's failure to take their chances against Betis and insists they cannot afford to continue in the same vein if they want to stay up this season.

"We've come from two games where we haven't scored and opportunities like today's can't be missed. Right now we are annoyed, because we were counting on getting three points and we are left with that empty feeling," he said.
