Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen will be looking to successfully defend the
Bahrain Grand Prix title which he won in 2023.
What to know about Verstappen
The Belgian star won the Formula One world title in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and he looks set to become one of the greatest racing drivers of all time.
At the age of 18, Verstappen won the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix on his debut for Red Bull Racing, becoming the youngest-ever driver.
The 26-year-old was crowned champion in 2023 after he finished at the top of the Formula One World Drivers' Championship standings.
Why Verstappen could win the 2024 Bahrain Grand Prix
Verstappen took his first win in Bahrain by almost 12 seconds ahead of teammate Sergio Pérez in 2023 and he went on to win the Formula One World Drivers' Championship.
The three-time Autosport International Racing Driver of the Year also gave Red Bull their first win in Bahrain since Sebastian Vettel won in 2013.
Verstappen won the last four races in the 2023 Formula One World Drivers' Championship season and he will be keen to carry that winning form into the 2024 campaign.
What did he say?
“I think there’s of course always a lot of work to do," Verstappen said after he ended pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit.
"You always want to do better, but I think we had a very positive test and we learned a lot from every single thing that we changed on the car,
"And we also know what we want to do for next week, and that’s what we’ll focus on.”
