Phoenix Suns will be looking to build on their recent run of good form when they host Los Angeles Lakers at the Footprint Center on the evening of Sunday, February 25.

The Suns have put themselves in the mix to qualify automatically for the playoffs after winning 17 of their 24 games since the year of the year.

Frank Vogel's team improved their record to 33-22 in the Western Conference going into the NBA All-Star break, which was good enough for fifth place.

They made it back-to-back home wins with a 116-100 triumph over Detroit Pistons on February 15 as the hosts overcame the early ejection of Devin Booker for two technical fouls inside the opening six minutes.

Kevin Durant scored 25 points in a game that saw 51 fouls called and had extra spice after Drew Eubanks got into an altercation with Isaiah Stewart before the encounter in Phoenix, which led to the Pistons center being arrested for punching the Suns power forward.

Durant rallied behind Eubanks, who insisted he was fine to play and ended up contributing six points and rebounds off the bench.

"Keep the game first. There's a lot of noise around our game. It's unfortunate what happened before the game," the 14-time NBA All-Star said.

"It's supposed to be a brotherhood, but I also understand, dudes get into stuff. We try to avoid that in this league. Hopefully, we can move on from it. We all support Drew."

The Lakers have stepped up their push for the playoffs after winning six of their seven games this month to put pressure on New Orleans Pelicans and the Suns.

Darvin Ham's team won three on the spin prior to the NBA All-Star break to sit ninth in the West, two games behind Sacramento Kings (8th) and 2.5 back to Dallas Mavericks (7th).

Anthony Davis (37) and Rui Hachimura (36) combined for 73 points in a 138-122 victory over Utah Jazz on February 15 as LeBron James sat out the game to rest his ankle before the All-Star weekend.

Ham challenged Hachimura to step up against the Jazz and the power forward didn't disappoint, scoring a career-high 36 points, including 21 in the first half alone.

"I've been telling Rui, 'I need you to come out and play like a wild man. Just put your fingerprints all over the game'," Ham said.

"He heard us loud and clear with us encouraging him. We need Rui to be great in order for us to be great."
