The 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii is scheduled to take place at the Waialae Country Club between 11 and 14 January 2024
 
What to know about the tournament 
 
The event has been contested at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, Hawaii, since the event's modern-day inception as the Hawaiian Open in November 1965.
 
The tournament is part of the tour's FedEx Cup Series and in addition to the usual PGA Tour eligibility criteria, it may invite up to three professional golfers from emerging markets.
 
News 
 
The PGA has announced that Gary Woodland, who had brain surgery in September, will make a triumphant return to the PGA Tour at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
 
Will Zalatoris, on the other hand, has not featured in a competitive event since the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play last March but is back in action after back surgery last spring.
 
Favourites
 
All eyes will be on Kim Si-woo as he looks to retain the Sony Open in Hawaii title, but he will face stiff competition from the likes of Brian Harman, Matt Fitzpatrick and Chris Kirk.
 
There will be eight past champions in the 144-player field namely, Si-woo, Jimmy Walker, Russell Henley, Zach Johnson, Patton Kizzire, Matt Kuchar, Hideki Matsuyama and Ryan Palmer.
 
What Is At Stake 
 
The 2024 Sony Open in Hawaii winner purse is set for $8.3 million, with the winner's share coming in at $1,494,000.
 
The winner will also earn 500 FedEx Cup points and he will enjoy the benefits of winning a PGA Tour event.
 
This includes a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour and an exemption into next year's Masters, PGA Championship, The Players and Sony Open in Hawaii.

"It's been a patience game. It's been a grind," Zalatoris said in December on the PGA Tour website.
 
"I had a lot of really good advice from guys that have had to go through the same thing and all of them said take your time, no one's ever come back from an injury taking too long.”
