Round 7

Sunday, 2 June 2024

Jorge Martin will be determined to register his third victory of the 2024 MotoGP season by clinching the Italian MotoGP.

Most recent race

Martin was unlucky not to win the most recent race on the 2024 MotoGP calendar which was the Catalan MotoGP on 26 May.

The Ducati Prima Pramac Racing rider finished second which saw him collect 20 points from the race in his home country, Spain.

MotoGP title ambitions

The Madrid-born motorcycle rider is still placed at the top of the MotoGP Riders' standings having accumulated 155 points from six races.

Martin is 39 points clear of second-placed Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team ahead of the Italian MotoGP as they compete for the world championship.

Why Martin could win the 2024 Italian MotoGP

Nicknamed Marinator, Martin will be returning to the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello where he finished second in last season's Italian MotoGP.

The 2018 Moto3 World Championship, who won this season's Portuguese MotoGP and French MotoGP, will be targeting his third win of the term this weekend.

What did he say?

"I’m super happy, super proud about the race," Martin said after finishing second at the 2024 Catalan MotoGP.

"Today was a tough one, starting from seventh. But I exited perfectly from the first corner, coming into fourth. Then I felt great. I was saving some tyre, but even though I was overtaking all of the riders’.

"At some point, I felt Pecco (Bagnaia) had something else, I just tried to keep the pace always, and at the end, I had nothing left in my pocket. I just tried to finish. I saw we had a big gap, so I tried to put some pressure on Pecco," he added.

"But it was difficult. Thanks to everyone, it was a difficult race and we’re looking forward to the next one."
