Matchday 14

Atletico Madrid v Mallorca

Estadio Civitas Metropolitano

Madrid, Spain

Saturday 25 November 2023

Kick-off is at 22h00

Atletico Madrid will look to continue their scoring form when they face Mallorca in a La Liga clash at Estadio Civitas Metropolitano, set for the evening of Saturday 25 November 2023.

Current Form

Atletico have racked up nine goals in their last two matches, with a 6-0 win over Celtic in the UEFA Champions League on November 7 followed five days later by a 3-1 triumph over Villarreal in which Axel Witzel, Antoine Griezmann and Samuel Lino all found the back of the net.

The Rojiblancos have not lost a home match in any competition since January, and have racked up 15 successive home La Liga wins stretching back into last season.

Mallorca come into the match on the back of a 2-0 loss away to Real Betis. They are just two points above La Liga’s relegation zone.

Los Piratas have taken just one point from a possible 12 in their last four away matches in La Liga.

Team News

Neither team has any suspension concerns.

Atletico’s injury list includes Vitolo (knee injury), Memphis Depay (muscle injury), Thomas Lemar (achilles tendon rupture), Reinildo Mandava (cruciate ligament tear), while Mallorca are set to be without Antonio Raíllo (ankle injury).

Quotes

“It’s far away for me, but I imagine that at some point we will work somewhere else,” said Atletico manager Diego Simeone, who recently signed a new contract with the club.

He added, “I focus on consistency, which is the most important thing. There are teams that play very well, Girona are a pleasure to watch. Also Barcelona and Madrid as always. La Real doesn’t have the points it deserves but they play very well. It has been a very competitive season.”

Head-to-Head

In head-to-head stats, Atletico and Mallorca have met in 34 matches across all competitions since 1997. Los Rojiblancos have claimed 13 wins compared to 12 for Los Piratas, while nine games have been drawn.

The teams’ most recent meeting was in La Liga in April 2023, with Atletico winning 3-1 at home thanks to goals from Rodrigo De Paul, Alvaro Morata and Yannick Carrasco.
