Cameron Young will be keen to record his first win of the 2022/23 PGA Tour season by clinching the World Wide Technology Championship trophy.

What to know about Young

The American golfer has won four professional tournaments since he turned pro in 2020 and he had a breakout year in the PGA Tour’s 2021-22 season.

Young finished runner-up five times including at the British Open at St. Andrews during the 2021-22 season and he also finished T-3 at the PGA Championship.

He has also won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour and he was voted PGA Tour Rookie of the Year for the 2021–22 season.

News

The 26-year-old finished 15th at the 2023 BMW Championship in August and he took a break from professional golf.

Young is currently placed 17th on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and his best OWGR is 13th.

Why Young could win the World Wide Technology Championship

The former Wake Forest University student is the highest-ranked golfer on the OWGR among those who will compete in this weekend's World Wide Technology Championship.

Young is one of the PGA Tour’s up-and-coming young stars, and he has what it takes to record a win at the El Cardonal.

Quotes

“I feel like I did play really nicely last year, I think there is some emphasis put on me trying to win for the first time, which of course I am," Young said in the New York Post in March 2023.

"But I think, for me, I have to look at it as I could win a golf tournament this year and not necessarily be any better than last year. I don’t know if it is a mark of improvement for me in that sense.

“I think obviously you have to play some tremendous golf to win out here and I played some tremendous golf last year. I just happened to get beat by one guy a few times.’’
