2024/25 English Premier League
Matchday 10
Newcastle United v Arsenal
St James' Park
Newcastle upon Tyne, England
Saturday, 2 November 2024
Kick-off is at 14h30
Premier League title hopefuls Arsenal will be looking to snap a two-game winless run when they go up against Newcastle at St James' Park on Saturday, November 2 in the lunchtime kick-off.
The Gunners have dropped five points behind league leaders Manchester City after playing out to a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on October 27.
Mikel Arteta's side, who saw their unbeaten start to the season come to an end with a 2-0 loss at Bournemouth on October 19, remain in third place ahead of Aston Villa (4th) on goal difference, with Chelsea just one point further back in fifth position.
The Citizens are still undefeated after they edged basement dwellers Southampton 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on October 26 to go one point clear of the Reds at the league summit.
Newcastle continued their slide down the table with a 2-1 reverse to the Blues at Stamford Bridge on October 27 which extended their winless streak to five matches.
It was a second successive defeat for Eddie Howe's side, who have picked up just two points from their last five outings to sit in 12th spot, level with Bournemouth (11th) and Fulham (10th) on 12 points.

In team news, the hosts continue to be without Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) and Kieran Tierney (thigh), but William Saliba is available again after serving a suspension, while Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel (both knee), Jurrien Timber and Martin Odegaard (ankle) are all rated doubtful. The visitors have fitness doubts over Martin Dubravka (knee) and Anthony Gordon (groin), although Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman (both knee), Callum Wilson (back) and Kieran Trippier (thigh) are all missing once more.
Arteta was full of praise for their display against the high-flying Merseysiders, who scored with the solitary chance they created in the second half to equalise.
"I think the performance overall with all the circumstances was very positive, a lot of great things to take, but it's disappointing not to win it because I thought we were the better team," the Spaniard said.
"We had the most domination, the biggest chances and without conceding anything really, we gave two goals away, apart from two big decisions as well.
"With everything that we've been through in the last few weeks, with all the injuries and situations that we had, the team was exceptional. The energy that we created, the way we dominated the top team in the league at the moment and where we're coming from, it says a lot about how much we want it and as well, the quality that we have."
Howe believes the Magpies are getting better with each passing game after they made Chelsea work for all three points, but admits that errors are still proving costly.
"The majority I liked. It was a strong performance," he said. "Coming here you know it's going to be a very difficult game, especially when you concede relatively early in the match.
"Our response was really strong. We scored a great goal ourselves and we weren't perfect in our performance. We've lost the game, but I thought it was another improvement. I feel the team's moving in the right direction, albeit we're making a couple of mistakes that's cost us."
