Red Bull Racing's Sergio Perez will be targeting a strong run-in to the season as he looks to fend off the challenge of Lewis Hamilton going into the
Mexican Grand Prix on Sunday, October 29.
The Mexican managed to extend the gap to the Mercedes driver in third place to 39 points after Hamilton finished second in the United States Grand Prix, but was disqualified for failing a post-race plank test.
Perez gained a place after initially claiming P5 in Austin, Texas, although Hamilton's pace will be a cause for concern after Mercedes received their final upgrade package in the USA.

The emergence of Lando Norris in the second half of the season has given the 33-year-old another problem to contend with as the McLaren driver has claimed six podium finishes in the last nine races.
'Checo' hasn't finished on the podium since his P2 at the Italian Grand Prix and he failed to pick up any points in the Japanese Grand Prix after being forced to retire.
Perez doesn't have the best of records on his home track after securing just two podiums in seven attempts, although they came in 2021 and 2022 with successive P3s.

He was critical of Red Bull after the United States Grand Prix after suggesting their two-stop strategy made him miss out on the podium.
"Of course, I would have liked a little more from the race," Perez told Viaplay. "It was difficult for us to stay in the slipstream [of cars ahead] and be in the fight.
"There were some moments where we could have made an undercut on certain people, but we didn't. That's something we have to look at carefully, and there are things we can learn from."
