The
2023 Qatar Grand Prix is set to take place in the second-largest city in Qatar, Lusail on 8 October.
What to know about the Qatar Grand Prix
This event was held for the first time on 21 November as part of the 2021 championship at the Lusail International Circuit.
Having not taken place during the 2022 season due to the 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar, has rejoined the calendar in 2023 under a 10-year contract.
Most recent race
The Japanese MotoGP which was the 16th round of the 2023 Formula One World Championship season took place on 24 September.
The race was won by Max Verstappen of Red Bull-Racing and he was followed by McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri respectively.
Standings
Red Bull Racing's Max Verstappen is still placed at the top of the World Drivers' Championship standings.
The reigning Formula One world champion is followed by his teammate Sergio Perez, Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, and Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso respectively.
Looking at the World Constructors' Championship standings, Red Bull Racing-Honda RBPT are placed at the top - followed by Mercedes and Ferrari respectively.

“Another amazing day for us. A P2 and P3, so we couldn’t have asked for any more," Norris said after finishing second in the recent Japanese Grand Prix.
“My start was very good, I almost had Max, but Max is Max, so I didn’t have a lot of chance into Turn 2. I tried, but the pace was extremely strong today, compared to everyone.
“We are not close to Max, but we are not miles away either, so it was a very good day, and also for Oscar, it was his first podium in F1, so congrats to him.”
