Mike Weir will be hoping to become the second International Team captain to win the Presidents Cup after Peter Thomson.
What to know about Weir
The Canadian star served as International Team captain’s assistant in three consecutive playings, most recently under the leadership of Trevor Immelman at the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club.
Weir was an assistant for Ernie Els in 2019, which saw the International Team build its biggest lead in Presidents Cup history before falling to a Tiger Woods-led USA Team, 16-14, at The Royal Melbourne Golf Club, in Melbourne, Australia.

Weir announced Ernie Els, Trevor Immelman, Geoff Ogilvy and Camilo Villegas as captain’s assistants for the 2024 Presidents Cup.
The 2003 Masters' champion also selected South Africa’s Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Canada’s Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith and Mackenzie Hughes, South Korea’s Si Woo Kim and Australia’s Min Woo Lee as his six picks for this year's Presidents Cup.

Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama, who are the highest-ranked players on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) in the 2024 International Team, will carry the team's hopes of winning the Presidents Cup.
Having delivered a 3-1-1 record highlighted by a 1-up victory over Tiger Woods in Singles at the 2007 Presidents Cup, Weir has what it takes to lead the International Team to their first trophy since 1998.
