Ruud van Nistelrooy and Leicester City will chase a much-needed Premier League win when they host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium on the evening of Sunday, 16 March 2025. Kick-off is at 21:00

Current Form

Leicester suffered a sixth successive defeat across all competitions when they were beaten 1-0 at Chelsea in a Premier League match this past weekend. They are placed second from bottom (19th) on the log on 17 points – six points short of the safety of 17th place.

The Foxes have managed just two home wins in the league this season, and their last game as hosts ended in a 4-0 loss at the hands of Brentford on 21 February.

Manchester United have gone three matches without a win across all competitions after they played to a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal in the Premier League this past weekend. They are placed 14th on 34 points – eight points off the top half of the table.

The Red Devils have managed just three away wins in the league this season, with their last domestic away result a 2-2 draw at Everton on 22 February.

Team News

Leicester will be without Abdul Fatawu and Harry Souttar due to injury.

Manchester United’s lengthy injury list includes Amad Diallo, Jonny Evans, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Altay Bayindir and Lisandro Martinez, while Patrick Dorgu is suspended.

Quotes

“Lots of positives again but we have to take the blow of taking nothing,” said Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy after the 1-0 loss at Chelsea.

"We took one week to prepare for this and it was really positive. We didn't expect it to be this good. It suited the players and the profiles we have. It gave us more stability defensively and more support up front with two nines. It is something to build on.”

Head-to-Head

In head-to-head stats, Leicester and Man United have met in 140 matches across all competitions since 1894. The Red Devils have claimed 73 wins compared to 36 for the Foxes, while 31 games have been drawn.

The teams have met three times already this season (all at Old Trafford), with United winning 5-2 in a League Cup match in October, 3-0 in a Premier League match in November, and 2-1 in an FA Cup tie last month. The first two matches, ironically, saw Ruud van Nistelrooy at the helm of the Red Devils on a caretaker basis.
