Matchday 29
Atalanta v Inter Milan
Gewiss Stadium
Bergamo, Italy
Sunday, 16 March 2025
Kick-off is at 21:45
Atalanta will have an opportunity to show if their title push means business when they go up against league leaders Inter Milan at the Gewiss Stadium on Sunday evening, 16 March.
La Dea are coming off the back of an impressive 4-0 away win against Juventus and in doing so go into the game against Inter with renewed confidence. Captain Marten de Roon admitted they “never seem to be able to win against Inter.”
“We have to build on [the win against Juventus],” the Atalanta captain added. “Have consistent performances. We played an incredible match, of the highest level. Now we have to prepare. Because Inter are the strongest team in the league.”
La Dea manager Gian Piero Gasperini and Ademola Lookman seem to have made up after a public dispute following their exit from the UEFA Champions League recently.
"Lookman became a fantastic player when he improved his understanding of the team's play. Before, he had a more individual approach,” said Gasperini.
The coach highlighted the 27-year-old’s crucial contribution to the team's success and hinted that the Nigerian player has the potential to become a future leader, possibly even captaining the club.
"Lookman made Atalanta great, and Atalanta made him great. I am convinced he could wear the captain's armband before the season ends," he added.
As for Inter, right-back Denzel Dumfries is showing major ambition for the team’s title hopes. The Dutchman made it clear that every match is important for them and that since they’re playing three competitions, they see themselves winning the treble.
“We have to work to win every match. We have trophies to fight for, and we want to win all three,” says Dumfries.
Nerazzurri need to be careful not to drop any points in this fixture, as a stumble could see Napoli go ahead of them and also lessen the gap between themselves and third-placed Atalanta.
